The Store has everything...from A-Z....we are there a lot. Great sales. ..there a couple of grumpy guys - most employees are great... esp the lady in the light bulb area...she is a font of wisdom. The lady at the Garden center register can be abrupt. Still adore the store

They've got a little bit of everything all over the place. Some would say it's a merchandising nightmare, I'd call it an adventure. A friendly and knowledgeable staff will guide you through it all.

I used to think this place was a little overpriced but not anymore. They are on par with pretty much everybody else. But they have tons of OTHER cool stuff you won't find anywhere else. It is like a hybrid 5 & 10 cent store and super stocked hardware store. Just don't go in there if you have been putting stuff off because they have every little thing for you to get the job done. And then some! Your excuses will be drowned in rust remover; your procrastination will be conquered with heavy duty picture hanging wire; and your vision will clear with Auto Window Defogger. You will even think of things to fix you hadn't even thought of before. It's like they fill the air with Dad crack. God bless you Goodman's, you little weirdo.

Meh, ok if you need something quick, but prices are kinda ridiculous. Guys who work the wire and key counter are only there for the paycheck....actual knowledge is nonexistent

I’ve been shopping here for a long time and would have given it a higher rating if it weren’t for a bad experience last weekend. I don’t feel comfortable shopping in person at crowded stores these days. So I placed an order online through the Ace site for pickup at Goodman’s. 24 hours went by and no “ready” email was sent. I clicked the Check Order button at the Ace website and it just sat there and spun. I called Ace and they said they couldn’t tell me the status and I’d have to call the store. So I called them and was told they didn’t have a record of the order and told me to call Ace. Frustrated, I cancelled the order on the Ace site. Then I see that my card was charged for the order. So I contacted Ace again and was told the refund would come through in 7-10 days. Excuse me!? I will never trust Ace to handle an online order again and will have to take my business elsewhere.

Don't buy paint at Goodman's! The lighting is terrible and it seems to be a big deal to open the door. The paint match scanner is defective. There are 3 large lights over the counter that aren't flourescent that should be turned on to help customers and clerks see the true color after matching. The color I had matched looked like the right color in their poor light , but when I brought it home, it's 3 shades lighter even in a dark corner. On top of that, the man behind the counter, a long-time employee, was less than helpful and very unfriendly borderline rude. As if he doesn't realize how important matching a color is in terms of touch-ups and painting adjacent walls. Adding insult to injury, when I asked about the Ben Moore sale sign posted out front, instead of checking the computer or flyers, the clerk had to call the paint guy all the way over to her desk to tell her if there was a sale. After waiting 5 minutes for him, I gave up in frustration and paid full price. I intend to lodge my complaint with management. 11/4: The owner responded promptly referring this to the manager of Goodman's over a week ago but I have heard nothing! 11/7: Goodman's manager, Martin, called and gave me a credit directly to my account for one gallon because I needed to get the paint job started. It turns out, 2 of the gallons were the correct color. I happened to open the only can of the 3 that was the wrong color. Imagine my surprise after my painter did 2 ceilings and, when we opened the other cans, they were the color I wanted but not the color that I'd spent money use. Not to mention all the hours I spent painting the walls myself with the wrong color! PS: I went to Home Depot where I got the correct color for half the price - 20 bucks per gallon for comparable paint.

You can find home hardware things here that you can’t at Home Depot. Plus all the things you can. So dont give your $$ to the corporate gods. Keep it local.

Its a good store

They have almost everything a hardware store needs to offer, and then some. Some really hard yo find service a like replacing screens. Despite being in pricey southern Marin, prices are competitive with Home Depot. Convenient location.

Hey, I love hardware stores; tools, wood, little parts... All the stuff comes together in a way that feels comforting even though it appears messy and only somewhat organized. Goodman's is one of those places I love to explore, up and down each isle. One of the last great hardware stores.(there is another in Sausalito that's is pretty good too, different review ?)

Worst service experience of my life. Nobody knows where anything is. Even if they do. They won't help you find it. One of the employees who gave us the run-around purposfully spoke at a volume that was so low it was completely inaudible. I actually had to ask him if he was talking to me or just mumbling to himself. I'll NEVER go back. I went right from there to Waterstreet Hardware and got exactly what I needed from a knowledgeable, courteous and helpful person who seemed to genuinely want to be there.

Convenient location, steep prices. But, if they don't have it. You don't need it.

Crazy place to shop; one fellow commented that after 30yrs he now knows where to find things, but they have all kinds of hard to find items. Half the workers walk around in a catatonic fog, others are super helpful, but it's important to support these small businesses who employee so many.

Goodmans is the best hardware story in the county

Great service and a wide selection. Buy local by supporting Goodman's. The staff at Goodman's are accessible and will help you figure out what you need to fix what's broken at your house.

Over price .. dirty store

Goodman's does a good job and diversification (hardware, power tools, wood, household products and plants). It's an old school hardware store - meaning if you have a question or need help, you'll get it... there 15% off Sunday's are great. Good store to support over the big boxes....

Love it, staff was very kind, and I was able to get wood for my table that I was building. Great prices and it’s local. Amazon doesn’t sell wood, so I don’t know what I would do without them.

This is the true everything store. And the staff is incredibly helpful. I buy here over Amazon as much as I can. Marin wouldn't be the same without them!

Avoid this place (if you can). The employees act like they've been condemned to spend eternity in this crowded, disorganized store and take it out on you when and if you can track one down. I find San Rafael Lumber so much more pleasant (and worth the extra drive).

Best hardware store in northern California

Your experience may vary to mine. The place is super crowded with items. The aisles are narrow making it hard to navigate if there is another person shopping in the aisle. The employees I did interact with were not friendly. I was almost run over by one as he was hurrying down the aisle I was in. This is not the type of Ace hardware I am using to shopping at. The employees are friendly and helpful. I left the store without buying anything as the line was long and slow. I also gave up trying to find the all the items I was shopping for. Your experience may be different than mine. Update 1/21/20 - Goodman's did reach out to me regarding my review. They are working on the issues I posted about. The most concerning issue to me was the poor customer service I experienced at the store. I am a fan of the locally owned stores and want this business to succeed.

My first time here just because I needed a shower divider and I wanted to use my 5$ off coupon but it turns out that I couldn't... what a bummer!

Great General hardware store with pretty much everything you'll need including the addition of some Lumber and garden supplies. The prices are a little higher than some but the convenience can't be beat. If they don't have what you need, they will often be able to order it for you at no additional cost. On Sunday is they have a 15% storewide discount!
